Dredging
From Envirowiki
Dredging is the act of ripping up the bed of a water body (such as a river, or lake, usually in order to make it deeper, for shipping, or to remove unwanted (ie. toxic) sediment. Dredging can cause massive disruption to ecosystems, by adding toxins or nutrients to the water. this can cause some organisms to flourish, or others to die off, creating an ecosystem imbalance.
