Envirowiki:Technical

I am always extremely irritated and frustrated by Wiki editing. Since this wiki has a superficially simpler aspect than wikipedia, I was encouraged and wrote three paragraphs on a new page. As always with these wikis, the final result was an unreadable nightmare because the first paragraph was perfect but all subsequent paragraphs were in dotted frames and extended for miles to the right without word breaks. There was no explanation given and no simple way to even read or fix it, since pressing the Edit button once again shows a properly formatted entry.

It adds insult to injury to go to the Help section, hoping against hope for some real instruction, only to be told "just write the page and press Save Page" and that is all there is to it. No, that is not all there is to it. Editing these wikis is a nightmare and you practically need a PhD in editing to figure it out (for wikipedia at least).

So, how can you make the editing process less frustrating? And I am dying to see how zany and unreadable this comment appears when I save it (if I am even allowed to save it since it is so common for work to just disappear with no explanation).

And why do I have to save the page twice. I did the sum the first time but somehow I was required to do another one. I clicked on Save Page. Why isn't that enough the first time? And will it be enough the second time?

PS: Aside from this lament, thanks for creating this wiki. If I can ever fight my way out of the editing paper bag, I will contribute more.
